Fan Temperature Switch

Has anyone tried a Beck/ Arnley 2010817 switch. Physically it looks the same as a Honda switch and the best I can tell the operating range is 195 to 210.

When I die send my body to the scrap yard.
Two hips and a shoulder replaced.

Never tried it but the temperature is correct and Beck/Arnley is a good company. Should work fine.

Turns out the threads were too small.

Speaking of which, what is the stock temperature range for the GL1000, since we got the thread started? I'm going to have to check this for myself sooner than later and can't recall what it is offhand.

IIRC, similar thermo switches are made in 16mm and 18mm threads. The GoldWing rads require the 18mm version (CX/GL500/650 bikes' rads require the 16mm version).

Some similar switches are rated as low as 5A and others as high as 30A and a relay is recommended (per several threads on this forum) if you use one of the ones with low current ratings (including the Beck-Arnley) (2011614 should be the correct number).

FWIW, the one I'm using cost about $10 on eBay a few years ago. For that price I added a "parade switch" so that I could turn it on manually if the engine got hot and the thermo switch didn't turn the fan on.

I like to add an indicator light for the fan too; I've used LEDs both times I've done that and the first time I was surprised to see the LED lighting up at speeds above 80 Km/h at night. I figured out that the wind was turning the fan enough that it generated a couple of volts ;)

The 201-164 requires a special connector that is differernt then the early wings
1978 custom GL1000
