Horn Beeper replacement

#1

Post by dartman1962 »

Just thought I would mention this!
So when I restored my 75 GL1000, probably like most of us, I removed the signal beeper & tossed it :)
Well now in my older age & forgetfulness, I tend to leave the signal lights on now & again.
So, I started looking for another one!
Well, after some searching, I found this one on amazon.ca
It just replaces the old flasher relay.
It was quite loud, but with a little foam in the speaker end & a piece of black tape with a small hole in,
its quite livable!
So if your like me, maybe this is what you need! :)
I hope you can download the video & play it!

On my 75 mine croaks like a big old swamp frog. Not what it is supposed to do but I kind of like the unique sound.

We probably should all make more effort to remember to keep our eyes moving and scan them across the instrument panel more often so that we notice that the signals are still on.

FWIW, the 1100 came with a turn signal cancelling system instead of the beeper. The problem is that it always shut the signals off too soon. If, for example, I turned the signals on before moving into a left turn lane I would need to turn them on again at least twice before I got to the corner. I eventually removed it (simply unplug the cancelling unit) so I no longer need to keep turning the signals back on while I need to concentrate on traffic but now I forget to turn them off.

I have gigged frogs all up and down the East Coast. Last time I did it was in Maine. They are a bit smaller but taste just fine.
