Thoughts on flip up helmets?

#1

Post by Starion88esir »

I'm about to finish paying for my 76 GL1000 and I need to buy my helmet. I want a full face helmet but I want something easy to get in and out of as well as easy to breath in. Are the flip up helmets any good? Any personal experiances with them? I'd hate to spend over $100 on one just to find out the latch (or whatever they use) sucks and have it break on me. Thanks in advance.

I may get the full face flip up helmet 'cause it would give you full weather protection , as I do some riding in the rain or get caut in it , other than that I use a half DOT aproved helmet . :)

I use a Vega Summit brand flip up helmet, and I love it. It's easier to get on and off, fits well, and doesn't give me a lot of road nose - and for $129, that is just fine in my book.

Sorry, I meant road "noise" in my post. I do get plenty of road nose from my helmet, so those of you that were worried about that aspect of the Vega can relax.
