CX650E

for those of you that have M.B.S. (multiple bike syndrome) and have the "silver wing" models.
as our sponsors also have supplies for those bikes and they are popular with the "wing" crowd.

It was a really odd deal with the contact shoe in the switch. It would work when we held the switch together but not when we screwed the parts into the housing.
I dug the one that came with my bike out of the attic and it worked OK so we unplugged Gord's and plugged mine in (all the turn signal wires &c) and then mine wouldn't work. I finally figured out that the shoe was contacting the common switch contact but not the ones for high & low when it was in it's proper position. I ended up bending the shoe to the shape it needed to be and it finally worked.

Then Kay called us for dinner.

After dinner, we finished putting the bike back together and talked about the percieved problems with these bikes (water pump, cam chain, stator) that really aren't any more likely to fail than on any other 24 year old vehicle and some of the things that are likely to need work at some time (also mainly age related and not specific to these bikes).

It's not in perfect condition, but it is in pretty good shape for something 24 years old with 83,000 Km on it. It has been looked after and you can see signs that repairs have been done as needed. It is certainly in better condition than mine was when I got it. I think Gord could be happy with this bike.

Start switch, headlight switch or ignition switch?
It's not what people know that gets them into trouble, but what they know that ain't so. -Variously ascribed

High/low switch. It's the first time I have ever heard of a probem with one of them and we found 2 the same day.

I never tried the one on the cluster that came on my bike because I knew I was going to change to the full fairing (& it's headlight) and the GL500 switchgear with wires long enough for the higher handlebars to go with it.
