It depends on how you set up the time in your profile. I still can't get the time right, looks like I post in the middle of the night.

Yea there is something funky about the GMT selection. East Coast US is GMT + 4 or 5 depending on Dailight Savings time. But on this site I have it set to minus 5 to be correct???? Weird :-?

GMT -5 is correct for the US east coast. I'm in Central time, and that's GMT -6.

Basically, the time zone setting tells you your difference from time at Greenwich Observatory in England, which is the "prime meridian" and = GMT 0. FWIW, the opposite of the prime meridian" is the International Date Line

The idea is that the web server has to keep track of only one time when you post. When your post is displayed, it displays the time offset by your timezone setting. So if I post at 4:00 pm, and view my post, it will show that I posted at 4 pm. However, if you view it, it will show as being posted at 5:00 pm, since you are an hour ahead of me.

You can get into weirdness with Daylight Savings time- whether your client automatically adjusts for it or not, if the server adjusts for it or not, etc.

Hope that helps...

You're right shatle, and great explanation! I have set the time zone
to GMT = GMT 0.
I think this will work best for all.

Thanks for good feedback tumb2
