Re: MotoNudo Build
Well if only the bowls, that is a pretty good PO. Many do much worse. Shocks are pretty important to handling, I would not use worn out stuff or leaky air stuff. There are several good alternatives, Hagon, etc.

Re: MotoNudo Build
Nozzle and jet holder were filthy. All of them looked like this.
Also had a broken tower
But I don't think it will cause any problems
One of my pilot fuel tubes was turned 90 degrees from the intake and one of the flanges on top is broken. Not sure what to do about it.

Thanks rcmatt. Is it threaded? One of the top flanges is gone.

Re: MotoNudo Build
No, it isn't threaded. You will probably need to warm the carb body to get it to move. Broken like that is usually when someone tried to turn it or remove it and it is "stuck" in the body.

Re: MotoNudo Build
Done. Tapped it out, gently. Thanks for the info.
Going to solder and redrill the idle ports per Randakk's tech note. No #62 bits laying around so I will finish the rest and wait for the drill bits I ordered.
Valve lap and water pump are next.

Don't think these are salvageable. I wanted to get them shinny but they are very etched. Might need to paint them.

Re: MotoNudo Build
How many hours? Seems like some other posts I saw took a long time. Sandpaper first? Wire brush on a wheel? I have seen posts on polishing but not with this deep etching.

Re: MotoNudo Build
Most use aircraft paint stripper first. Some use fine sand paper, but it doesn't take long to use the colored polishes, coarse to fine. I can't really see from pics, but often the etching is just through the clearcoat.

Re: MotoNudo Build
I will work on them with stripper. In the meantime, I took the intakes off the "stock" GL1000 and noticed they are different. Here is a pic. Any idea which is the legit intake? Look at the flange relief and the depth of bolt shroud.
I also noticed the rubber part has 19 on one and 15 on the other.

Re: MotoNudo Build
I have a box of 30 or more. The inside diameters varied greatly. I am not sure which is best. They may have gotten mixed up from various years. Bigger isn't necessarily better. I think some of the larger openings leave a ridge around where they meet the head, which can't be good, but it's hard to see looking down the elbow. There were also some aftermarket elbows made, usually they were chrome. The chrome ones I had were bigger.
