Well ladies and gents. I laugh as I think of how fat my wallet WAS a couple months ago when I tore this GL apart. I have spent 5,700.00 USD so far on this retro restoration.

I just dropped off my front fork ears (headlight mounts) and tail light/liscence plate bracket to be re chrome plated. The estimate is 250 USD for a tripple chrome plate job and pollish. Pluss the 400 I just spent on my exhaust.

I just started tearing into this bike 5 months ago, now, 5 months later, I have the floor boards and the gauges left to go. By the way, I have every size and thread pitch for EVERY nut and bolt on the GL wrote down if anyone needs to know, lol. Im so close and I'm squeezing pennies. The floor boards I want are drag specialties and the only ones I can find are on e-bay and he wants 220 USD. If it were 175 or so, I'd go for it.

Other than that, not sure what I'm gonna do about the gauges. I would like a nice matching set of white face and black or chrome basket gauges. I think that would just top off the "retro" look. Any one have any idea where I can order these from, I cant find any I like.

Other than that, I'm off to bed, lol. Been a long day.

Chewy,i love the bike, but really loved the ferret. My kids have one, its had lots of names, the first was devil rat, because it would hiss and get real crazy when we got near its food when we first got her.She quickly got used to us and really mellowed out.My kids finally ended up just calling her weasel, which she comes to,along with a short whistle.Icall her wazell, she likes to go inside the bassdrum on my drumset but has never chewed any mike cords or anything else. She also likes to skateboard.well enough about ferrets, keep up the good work on the gw...very nice!

Your scooter is going to be a real show stopper I think. You might want to check jpcycles.com for floorboards. I'll try to post the link, but the part number is ZZ55327, $128.99.

Lol, that sounds alot like my ferret drumslam. Mine is really rambunctious. He'll run all over and slam into every wall on the way. He has no fear I swear, lol. Funny as all hell. He trained very well tho, he wont bite or chew, and he always goes to his cage to potty. Ferrets are actually really smart, just not super coordinated, lol.

Brant, thank you for the link. I like those boards but I want something with a block pattern (I'm very picky). Much appreciated though, thank you for the help.
