first ride of the season.

#1

Post by 5speed »

a small group of us went to the local blessing of the bikes. It was an hour or so ride to get there.
Weather was cloudy and pretty chilly at 8am but the clouds cleared off and it was a great day.
there was an official count just over 1000 bikes in attendance.

Nice! I got the Wife out for her first ride with me yesterday. Just about 90 miles round trip for some ice cream but it was good.

it was a great day. My wife d/loaded an app on her phone that tracks your route on a map. It was pretty neat to see our route.
She also saw several people walking around with a "360" camera. I didn't know they were a thing but she apparently has been looking at them and when we got home she ordered one. lol

I got out for a 45-mile round trip to pick up a battery for the GL1000 - and took the '79 out for a short loop after installation. It's mesh jacket weather here today. Blue skies, puffy clouds floating by. We couldn't ask for nicer early May weather on the coast of Maine.

Yes.

If it means anything, last week I was in touring overpants and an insulated winter riding jacket and commuting through cold rain. Until Sunday, I was wearing my tourmaster winter elite gloves almost exclusively. I think I'm in the north - but I'm definitely not in Nova Scotia. You probably still have snow in the shady corners of the twisties.

You could tell the weather turned around here last weekend. There were bikes everywhere. I typically don't see many between November and about May. It's riding season.

I saw my first bike out in the wild about 3 weeks ago.
I wait until we've had a few good rain storms to wash the salt off the road first.

Nice looking group of rides. The 360 action cameras are very nice. I have two older action cameras of the OSMO Action variety. Takes very good videos.
