Re: new toy
Looks lovely, I am hoping to get a couple or 5 more years out of the 2006. Had a coil pak or 3 die yesterday. Limp mode home. Parts on order.

Re: new toy
First good trip this week. About 1200 miles round trip from Norfolk Va to Lancaster NY and back. Learning more every time I use it. I would say I am about 70-80% on the electronic gadgets. I played with that lane assist and it turned out to be very useful. You can actually let go of the wheel for 15 seconds at a time before it lights up a warning and then a few seconds later it starts beeping. It will steer through a curve or maintain a straight line. It did get confused a few times when there was a break in the painted road lines like at a exit or new pavement area. On a couple of concrete bridges where the paint was hard to see it would kick off. But all in all it was quite impressive once I let it do it's thing.
Fuel consumption was dismal on the way up at about 17 but the way down was much improved at about 21. Range is only about 300 so that is taking some getting used to. The 1500 Ram was good for about 450 miles at a whack. Passing does okay if you are not afraid of the pedal. It will go from 60 to 90 mph pretty good. Did not push it past that yet. 70 mph zones (running 79-80 mph) is a big hit on the fuel economy. On the other side 55 mph gets close to 25 mpg. Climbing grades on the slab in Pa at speed caused the Turbo to create 5-10 pounds of boost and that was a big fuel economy hit.
Size wise it is okay but I would not want any smaller. Me the Wife and 2 dogs in the cab and all the associated stuff (including a collapsed 48 inch crate) in the bed and there was not a lot of extra room.
Handling was pretty good. A bit more body roll than I would have like in some of the turns at speed. I guess that is to be expected in a truck this high. Only got to play a little in the snow with it. We pulled off in a closed State Park in PA to walk dogs. The road in was plowed and solid ice. Slow and easy and no issues. Traction control kicked in the few times it broke loose. Once in there in the un-plowed areas the snow was about 6 inches. It walked through in 2wd with no issues. On the way out I turned off the traction control and the locker in the back got a workout. It would slide out left or right depending on the crown. With 4wd and traction control on you could put it to the floor and she would stay straight. All that stuff worked exactly like it is supposed to.
2 absolute joys with the truck are the seats and the headlights. Both front seats are power with lumbar and heat. Wifey was very much in love. The run back she never got out in 9.5 hours and when she did there was no crippling bent over stuff. The headlights are the best I have ever owned. Really fantastic. Significantly adjustable up and down not including the high and low beams. I detest traffic so I run at night quite a bit and these will make that much much safer.
