Re: CAFE MAXIMUS
Thanks bro, appreciate the kind words. I spent a crazy amount of time on the mold, getting it perfectly symmetrical, and the leather was really expensive too, but seeing it on the bike makes it well worth it - the seat plays a big role in the bike's overall appearance right ?jttorio wrote:I'm in love with your bike! Again, I think your bike is absolutely fantastic, I love the line of it

Yes I really appreciate the time and detail on that seat! Looks like a million bucks! I agree, the seat can add make a huge difference in the appearance of a bike! And yours is definitely one of my favorites.

Just wanted to show off my battery box - I'm very pleased with how it came out...

Re: CAFE MAXIMUS
It's coming along really well Norbert. I like everything you've done...except maybe that electric swingarm. Not sure where you're going with that idea. (A black wire (to match the frame) might have been a better choice.)

Battery box looks great!
Great to keep these old 'Wings flying on down the road.

Re: CAFE MAXIMUS
Thanks for the comments gents.
Have been busy doing lots of small jobs the last few weeks. Also spent a lot of time going back and re-doing stuff, like putting locktite on the crank pulley bolt (purely by chance saw a reference to it in the Honda manual under a list of lubricants, never seen mention anywhere else, but thought I better go back in and do it so I can sleep better).
Rebuilt and refurbished the front shocks, new head bearings, new swing arm bearings, fitted gas tank and filters and new braided gas lines from Wingovations.
Found a pair of gauges off a Silverwing with nice black faces ( I'm not a fan of the original green faces, and mine were ruined anyway). Repainted the housing in sating black, replaced the chrome rear housings and rubbers with salvaged items in better condition - they look like new now. ( Only problem is the red line is 1000 rpm higher than it should be on the tach, and the speedo is 20kph slower, doesn't bother me...)
Fitted a Euro style bar given to me by a friend which I'm really happy with, I think the lines are great, sort of gives a similar look to clubmans or clip-on's from the front, but a whole lot more comfy. Really battled with cable routing though, but I'm 90% happy with the setup. I like that the Triumph Thruxton bar end mirrors are the same height as the top of the gauges. Took quite a bit of modifications to the bars to fit those mirrors and the Biltwell grips.
Bobbed rear mudguard fitted (that's the one I had spray chromed), happy with how it works with my tail light and the vintage Kawasaki junkyard rear turn sigs.
She is pretty much ready to start, but I want her on the ground and the exhausts on first - so quite a bit of work there cleaning the pipes up and I want to re-spoke the wheels and polish the rims, lots of elbow grease in my near future....
Here's what the bike looks like ATM:

Re: CAFE MAXIMUS
I'm looking at your headlight stone guard and thinking that the tape would have been better used to insulate that electric swingarm.
Once you move the tape to the rear (where it obviously belongs) HERE is some more African Hillbilly chrome if you are inclined to go that way. I think they add some pizzaz even though bending the little tabs and getting it to mount decent is a pain.
