That's the reason I chose this tail section. It's rare to see one with a frenched in tail light on any cafe, and I like that it eliminates the "tail light hanging from the back" look and gives it a lighter more streamlined appearance. I'm really trying to make everything look as small and light as possible to draw all the attention to the big suitcase of a motorianstaley wrote:Great thanks for the pointer, too busy looking at the pictures. Thought Frenching went out with the Beatles. Real popular over here in the late 70's on cars that were customised. But I still love the idea.

Re: My 75 Wing Cafe RestoMod
I meant to ask in an earlier post where you got that tail section. I know you said you have a front fender modeled after a Ducati 750SS, but didn't see if you said where that came from.

The fender and tail section are both from Airtechwingrider wrote:I meant to ask in an earlier post where you got that tail section. I know you said you have a front fender modeled after a Ducati 750SS, but didn't see if you said where that came from.

Looking really good. Any chance those rear indicator light brackets could go behind the shock mount instead of over it?

I may mount them behind, I just have to figure out mounting the tail section to see where it'll fitEaster wrote:Looking really good. Any chance those rear indicator light brackets could go behind the shock mount instead of over it?

Re: My 75 Wing Cafe RestoMod
Didn't get a chance to do too much on the bike over the weekend, but I am struggling with an electrical gremlin. I hooked up my tail light and I had no running light. Everything else is working properly back there so I checked the fuses and noticed the second fuse down for the "Tail Meterlamp" was blown. Put a new one in, turned the key and it blows again instantly. Checked all my wiring connections and grounds to make sure they are done up, cleaned the prongs for the fuse, stuck a new one in, turned the key and same thing. So I'm at a bit of a lose. It seems like I have no running lights or gauge back lights (although all my indicator warning lights are working). Any ideas? My new gauges and dash lights will be here this week so I was going to wait until I work on the wiring for that until I dive into this issue deeper. I'm hoping to get it insured and on the road this week so I can track down any more bugs before it gets all finished up.

Re: My 75 Wing Cafe RestoMod
Gauges showed up (still waiting on the billet bracket and LED warning lights) so I mounted them up quick and also installed my license plate bracket. Starting to resemble a finished bike

Any suggestions for a replacement temperature gauge? Is it a plug and play type swap or would I need to replace the sensor as well?
My clubmans, bar end mirrors, gauge bracket, LED's and front fender are all due to arrive in the next couple days...so minus the body work, paint and covering the seat I'm closing in on being finished. I think I'm going to ride it for a few weeks looking like it does now to make sure there aren't any issues before I commit to the paint.
I also ended up with a nice addition to my office bookshelf until I figure out what to do with them. Everything works great on the stock gauges and they look good so I may throw them up for sale

Re: My 75 Wing Cafe RestoMod
Something I considered when wanting to do away with my stock gauges was to sacrifice the fuel gauge, and put a temp gauge from a '78 in the shelter lid - it is exactly the same size, no mods to wiring or sensors....Hanslehoff wrote: Any suggestions for a replacement temperature gauge? I ended up keeping my gauges stock, but on an old wing I definitely wouldn't want to run without a temp gauge.
Good progress there bro

Oh, and something else that worked well IMO, I replaced the plastic front MC reservoir with a lower rear MC reservoir, makeS a huge difference to the way the MC looks on the handlebars.

Re: My 75 Wing Cafe RestoMod
Hi so my bike is the later one, with the three gauges across the dummy tank. All mine were toast, So what I needed was a new set, I have white faces on my speedometer and rev counter, I also changed mine to the type with the built in temp gauge. That left me one spot over in the cluster on the tank. I managed to find some VDO gauges in white. see under.
The old volt metre total toast.
New Volt metre
Back of V metre.

Re: My 75 Wing Cafe RestoMod
Oh on another note my thoughts here. I am no electrician, so this is just supposition on my part, so can the problem be isolated, as you are blowing the fuse there are two sets of wiring here one is from the light to the fuse and 1 from the fuse to the ignition switch.
you should have 3 wires from the stop and tail light, one solid green wire this is earth and also goes to the rectifier, a solid brown wire which goes to the fuse and a green wire witch a yellow trace, this wire goes several places on the bike, 1) rear brake switch, 2) front brake switch and 3) the other side of the circuit which is a black wire with a green trace. That one goes all over the place, it goes to fuse 4 with the solid black wire, it goes to the speed unit, turn buzzer, horn and via the solid black wire, Ign switch, on off switch, starter and is connected through to the regulator. I know I must be teaching Granny to suck eggs but these individual wires can be checked for continuity, my guess is a simple short along one of the paths above. I sincerely hope this is of help.

That looks great! Any concerns with with having a smaller reservior on the front? I have a spare rear on the parts bike I could swap over...Norbert R wrote:Oh, and something else that worked well IMO, I replaced the plastic front MC reservoir with a lower rear MC reservoir, makeS a huge difference to the way the MC looks on the handlebars.

None that I've picked up, there is more than enough volume IMO - the fluid level hardly moves when you apply the brakes, so no risk of running the reservoir dry.Hanslehoff wrote:That looks great! The only thing I can think may effect it is excessive pad wear - might drop the level past the minimum if you don't top-up or replace pads.
But in practice, it works perfectly for me, and it was a straight swap.
