Are GL1000 Bars wired internally?

#1

Post by jhusman »

I'm buying some dogbone risers so I can put a drag bar on - are the regular bars wired internally? Do I need to find some hollow bars? If so, how does that work?

Thanks,
Justin

The GL1100 was wired externaly, and I can't imagine the 1000 being different. I think internal wire is something new in the past few years. I'm don't even think the GL1800 have internal.

The wiring on the KO/K1 and K2 100te0 models had the switchgear wiring wired internally in the handlebars. This prctice was quite common on Honda's until the mid 70's. To change this, you have to file a slot in the switchgear to allow it to be wired externally to the bars.
Honda stopped this parctice with the GL1000 K3 or KZ models onwards.
