Cleaning up the handlebars

#1

Post by staab »

I'd like to clean up the bars a bit. Does anyone have any links or info as to options for replacing those bulky swtich housings on a 75? I like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chrome-T ... enameZWD1V as a throttle housing (cant find one in black though). I could relocate the headlight switch to the bucket which would leave me needing a kill switch, starter button, turnsignal switch, and horn on the bars. the og. honda starter switch is one of the least durable parts on this bike and will need to be replaced anyway. Im pretty much new to bikes in general so if anyone could point me in the right direction id appreciate it. Thanks guys

I'm not a big fan of the idea, I think of it in the same vain as the suicide shifter. I have said my mind, now you can dispose of it as you wish, and I wish you the best of luck.

For an ignition switch and starter button have you considered using a car type. I have sen this done and it works well.
I have also seen a GL1000 custom in the UK that had no visable switchgear on the hadlebars, with the exception of a kill switch. He used a car type ignition/starter switch. For a dip switch he located a push button in the end of the handlebars and did the same for the horn button in the other end of the handlebars. All other switchgear was located in a neat panel on the dummy tank.
Looked real neat.

They say WHY?, I say why not.
If God had intended motor cycles to be standard, he would'nt have given us the hacksaw.
