This is a question really, since this is a much nice list, than some I poked for this info I will pose it here.
Since people mention that the CX500 has small-ish front forks and only one brake disk, couldn't you use the front end off of a Gl1100, the tubes are the same size as the CX650s, (Just do not know if the fork bridge is the same width) I was just pondering.
Be a neat thing to get the front end off of an 1100 and beef up the front of the CX500, and give it dual brakes at the same time, they use the same brake calipers from what I have found in my poking about.
If my wife gets the Motorcycle bug, I might have reason to get a CX500 I love those little bikes, was one of the first bikes I ever did have.

Similar things have been done. I would look for a CX650 front end, though, because it is more likely to fit the frame.
If you are looking to get one I recommend the GL500 over the CX. The CX's CDI ignition is prone to failure but the GL500's ignitors are as reliable as a hammer.

similar year v 45 or 65 magna will give you duel disc brakes and the fork tubes will slide right in the triple clamps from the cx. i used the wheel, brakes and fender from the magna on mine with no issues. i used the cx single disc master with no problems too...T
