Single Carb Conversion

#1

Post by jlckmj »

Hi folks,
New member from Wisconsin , The reason I found your site was because I was looking around for a way to get rid of the 4 carbs on my 77 GL1000.
I am tired of not enjoying the bike like I should be. (runs like crap) I am aware of the cycle innovations manifold that was marketed a few years back, but they are not in business any longer.

I have searched the archives on the site, and I came up with numerous hits where others were in the same situation. I saw mention of several people that were going to try and make something, but not much follow up about wether their plans worked or not.

Is there anyone that frequents this site that has done (or made) a successful conversion kit?
Are there any kits (or manifolds only) on the market?

Any help would be appreciated

I have made single carb manifolds and have on hand three different carbs to try out , But here where I live has been so beautifull out and my 82 GL has run so good that I've been out rideing alot . So I haven't had the chance to try out what I am ready to do . But a member here Our BigT has had tried his singel carb manifold and if or when he see's this thread may shed some light for you , But when I do have tested mine out all data and pics will be put up . I have a single carb kit to install that I bought used. What do you do for an air cleaner witha single carb set-up? Mine did not come with anything in terms of a housing.

Thanks,

Brian

I would probably put a circular filter and cap on and call it good.

BRB , if you check as BigT has said , Ron is using a round air cleaner from BugPack that also has the crank breather fitting underneath that breather . Or you can check out K&N filters thats would have a size for almost any carb throat . ( Z )
