Mad Dawger tires

#1

Post by Goose »

I race flat track, mad dawg class, which is set up for 150cc four stroke singles. It's a fun class, but it pays money at most tracks. So, lots of older pro riders run it and I'm a stucker for competition even if I'm broke and looking for cheap thrills. Most mad dawgers run 16" wheels, that being the cheap way to go. If you're that serious about it, you can run 17" wheels and 125GP rain tires, but flat track tires are all 19".

So, I have this 150cc XR100 stroker for flat track. It's a pretty serious back, not your grandma's XR. It's got an Engines Only ( http://www.xr100.com ) 150 stroker with big carb, ported head, big cam, etc. Little buggar will easily wheelie second gear. But, I'm cheap on wheels and have the 16s front and rear.

Bridgestone Trailwings are reported to work well, but going on advice, I bought a 42 dollar Kenda Cruiser. The compound feels quite soft and it is a piece of cake to groove. This shot shows the left side completed, the right side yet to be grooved. The groved side looks pretty agressive. If it works, I'll get one for the rear cause the old Metzler I have on it don't seem to hook up for squat. LOL

That's my groover hangin' from the handle bar. It heats up and actually melts its way through the rubber. Slick as snot! It was about 80 bucks from White Brothers.
