When I joined the NGW, Cookie was the first to welcome me and share his thoughts about my newly purchased '76. He PM'd me pic's of his, talked about his family etc., and on several occasions helped me with newbie questions. All good advice and he never made me feel like I was a bother. A real brother and a good soul. If NGW had a 'face', it would be Cookie.

He and I have a very similar sense of humour, I think. I really liked some of the posted slight digs at folk, always done in a gentle and funny way.
He also understands and appreciates my humour; not something that I find is universal :-? , coming from a different country, culture and with some language differences. That makes him special to me.

Cookie was the first guy I've encountered who is as foolish and obsessive with sailboats as he is with motorcycles. I felt a great companionable trust from that discovery. No doubt there are others here who 'do' sailboats also --- I haven't encountered that person yet.

That's the way the Cookie crumbles....<Sorry!!! sniff-wiping eyes>
It's going on 5 years since I stepped into these forums, and Cookie was one of the first people I met. NGW is kind of funny, you come for the bikes, but the people become part of your life and wither it was weather, bikes, pretty girls, Cookie always had something to say or something going on.

I think I liked his Chang errands the best, just an old fart running around town on a Saturday morning. We all do it, need paint, light switch, something for a honey do.....but with Cookie some how these little trips turned into epic adventures!!! The way Cookie explained it, women can not control themselves when they see a red Chang and apparently this little motorcycle some how made him the sexyist man alive!!!  Good times.

Cookies personality showed when wrote, and I was lucky enough to met Cookie and Christine when they came to Eugene for the Olympic track trials.....he was the same person on the computer screen as off. A true gentleman, and just an all around nice guy. We met at my favorite watering hole and shot the breeze shortly...I wish I had more time, but it was a thrill to finally met him. In fact, I was warming the same bar stool a couple of days ago, thinking bout Cookie. We hooked up at the shop the next day for a quickie tour and Cookie and Christine were headed back to Cali. Very, very busy people for sure.

It's hard, to think about Christmas, I always new it was official when Cookies train pics and vids showed up. This Cookie threads twisted every which way....we talked of family, jobs, toys, the past and WIVES!! Or as Cookie put it, "She that must be pleased." :-D :-D I still use this term and see it pop up on the board everynow and then.

Well, Cookie what can I say, it's been a blast, I've never been good at goodbyes. So C'ya, love you, and I'll buy the first round if we ever met again! anim-cheers1
The world in general has lost one hell of a nice guy.
Peace,
Frank

Frank said it well..The world lost one hellava nice guy...picking up his last LTD, we rode together for about ten hours, getting to know each other (with the NGW Forum as a background), telling stories; that was the shortest ride I've ever had...then one beer at about midnight and we both collapse like a couple of old guys, me on his couch, him back in the bedroom..meeting Christine about five minutes later as she cheerfully said, "This is the time we get up around here"... We unloaded the LTD with Spencers help and one of his high school buddies, I took the shop tour, then Cookie took us to breakfast at a pretty nice place before I headed back to SLO, a tidy little adventure with a new friend under my belt.

I'm just sorry I never got to meet him as we had planned on my Seattle-to-Albuquerque-sidecar-delivery adventure. he had offered me a "place to crash" when I got that close, and I must admit I was going to swerve off track a little just to get to go see him.
