question for you wing experts..

What is the first year they put reverse on wings?
After seeing Ian roussel's trike build I want to build one.
Having reverse would be a big plus.

I don't recall any until the 1500 came out. I think that was in 1988. It was an option at first and later became more standard.

Seeing that picture with its raked front end, small front tire, and wides at the rear, I'm reminded of the guy I knew back in the day who built a VW trike. He found out quick, fast, and in a hurry that it would NOT turn with the power on. And it never ran again.

I don't plan on a raked chopper style front end for just that reason.

Fyi all gl1500 models from 1988 onwards had reverse gear, except the Interstate model which was sold as a cut down model from 1991 to 1996.

My trusty 85 Aspencade ran out of fuel with 4 gallons in the tank yesterday 40 miles from home. When I tried to restart it I could tell the fuel pump wasn't pumping. I could not do any circut testing on the side of the road but 3 hours later when it was all cooled down, it started up and seemed to run fine. My son was already there with a trailer so I put it on and went home rather than risking another failure at night. Now it starts and runs fine even when hot, so I can't diagnose it. I have ordered a pump and figure I will make a little jumper wire that I will keep with me in case it was some other component in the circuit I can still make the pump run to get home. Has anyone experienced anything like that? How did you solve it?

I would not dismiss a bad fuel cap. It happens on the 1200's also

I am thinking you placed this ? on a thread not remotely connected to your problem in error. Suggest that you repost your problem under its' own title/heading where it might be read by someone who can be of help.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe a Mod could separate it into its own thread.

Hello, I am still struggling with the carbs on my 1985 GL1200A. It is very very rich at idle and bogs when hard accelerating any where from idle to around 2500rpms. The gas mileage is around 25 in town but only gets up to high 30's on a ride. If you are anywhere close to it while idling, your nose and sinuses burn. I have set the float levels below book and have the idle screws almost all the way out with only marginal improvement. I have blocked off the secondary air circuit. I bought a cheep kit which had all the brass parts. The included jets are smaller than mine so I didn't change any jets. Does anyone know the stock main jet size? And if I reduced that, would it help?

Are you sure the choke is off.... at the carbs? This system dous not restrict the air, it enriches the fuel at each carb. The small levers on each carb can stick closed sometimes.
