New project Ratty

Post by crashburn »

Hi all,
Just picked up this 82, not running, battery terminal melted off, and I suspect the fusible link is fried (I jumped her and nothing), going to start stripping her down to trace all the bad wires.. worst case I will redo all of it with an M-Unit..
The bike was parked outside, and has spent last couple days thawing, mechanically she looks ok, but of course I will replace all fluids and do all the maintenance.. seller supplied the original instrument cluster, and a bunch of other parts.
My daily bike is a 2020 R1250RS, so I can relax and tinker on this beauty.

Poor old "bobber" bikes.
They all kind of remind me of the Ol' Jalopy cars like the Archies use to cruise around in.

The last couple of these "customized" motorcycles that I have picked up have only been for parts.

From experience I know that chasing down some of the things the PO chopped off and threw away
can be much more hassle than expected.

If they hacked off the back of the frame to make it a "Solo" cruiser, that's even worse.

Good luck with this project.
Keep us posted.
